In Rockledge, November's Calendar Is Built Around What You Bring

October 29, 2026

There's a donation drop-off inside the red building at Rockledge Gardens, the one locals know as The Market, and it stays open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day in November. A few weeks later, a police cruiser sits in a Publix parking lot waiting for someone to fill it with canned goods. Then on the first Saturday in December, the city's holiday kickoff on Barton Boulevard is free, and the city asks each guest to bring a nonperishable food item.

Most of Rockledge's free public events between now and December 5 ask for something, and they ask for different things, at different places, for different organizations. The easiest way to plan the month is to know what's going in the trunk before you leave the house.

The drive at Rockledge Gardens runs every day in November

Rockledge Gardens' Friendsgiving drive runs all month, and it collects for three local charities at once.

  • Nonperishable food goes to Matthew's Hope Food Pantry.
  • Unwrapped toys and gifts go to NeighborUp Brevard's Gifts from the Heart.
  • Necessities and toiletries go to Family Promise of Brevard.

Drop-off is in The Market from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and the nursery says donors may get a thank-you gift. Since it splits donations three ways, this is the drive that takes a bag of shampoo and a toy truck along with the canned beans. You won't find a second November drop-off in town that lists all three.

The Market already gets regular traffic. Garden Party, the plant-based kitchen, is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Mad Utter scoops homemade ice cream Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., both in the same building. The bread pop-ups make a good reason to stop by with a donation. Bakers rotate through The Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and the November lineup includes Ya Motha's Bread on November 7, Pink Bow Sourdough on November 14, Baked Together on November 21 and Crumb & Co on November 28. A few Wednesday slots are still marked TBD.

The first Saturday asks for paper, not food

On Saturday, November 7, the city's Operation Shred drive-through runs from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at 1801 S. Fiske Blvd. It's free and takes paper only, with no boxes and no clips. Take the clips off at home, because it's a short window and a drive-through line.

The next day, Sunday, November 8, is the most crowded date on the nursery's calendar. Rockledge Gardens holds its Renaissance Market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with more than 30 local merchants and artisans, food from Garden Party and a guest food truck, desserts from Mad Utter, live music, and beer, wine and what the nursery calls "enchanted elixirs." The nursery describes the Renaissance theme as new this year "due to popular demand," added to its regular seasonal markets. Admission is free, costumes are welcome, and it's open to all ages. The Friendsgiving bin is open that day too, so a donation and a market visit can be one trip.

November 21 is the city's own collection day

The city runs the month's biggest single food drive. Stuff A Cruiser is set for Saturday, November 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It's organized by the Rockledge Department of Public Safety, and the food goes to Central Brevard Sharing Center. The city asks for any food item, including canned, boxed or jarred goods.

It also has the most drop-off points of any drive this month. Here's the full schedule:

Sat., Dec. 5, 4–7 p.m. Rockledge Civic Hub, 530 Barton Blvd. Free admission, with a nonperishable food item requested City holiday food drive

The Stuff A Cruiser stops sit at stores people already shop. With one Publix on US-1 and another on Murrell Road, the north and south ends of town each have a store on the list. Thrifty on Barton is the third. Buying a few extra cans during the regular grocery run and handing them over before leaving the lot is about as easy as giving gets.

The same Saturday is busy at Rockledge Gardens. Jenn from Space Coast Harvest leads a beginner seminar on growing strawberries, onions and garlic in Florida, with sessions at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. under the covered Learning Center pavilion. Registration is through the nursery. Baked Together has the bread table in The Market that day.

Free and ticketed events, side by side

The drives are free. Some of the events around them aren't, and it helps to know which is which before you load the kids in the car.

Free admission:

  1. November Craft Night, Friday, Nov. 6, 4–6 p.m., Frank T. Forester Recreation Center, 960 Cogswell St. The city lists turkey headbands and fall-leaf wreaths on the craft table.
  2. Renaissance Market, Sunday, Nov. 8, 11 a.m.–4 p.m., Rockledge Gardens.

Ticketed or reservation required:

  1. Toddler Tuesday, Nov. 17, 9:30 a.m., in the Riley Room at Rockledge Gardens. It includes storytime from Twinkle Toes Nanny Agency, sensory play led by SeiserSensory and a take-home craft. Each child needs a ticket, and space is limited to one adult per toddler.
  2. Little Bugs Learning Lab, Sunday, Nov. 22, 1 p.m., for ages 6 to 12. It costs $15 per child and $12 for each additional sibling, and reservations are required.
  3. Space Coast Harvest seminar, Saturday, Nov. 21, 11 a.m. or 2 p.m., registration through Rockledge Gardens.

Also on the calendar:

  1. Food Truck Friday, Friday, Nov. 13, 4:30–7:30 p.m., Larry L. Schultz Park, 2540 S. Fiske Blvd.
  2. Shop Small Saturday, Nov. 28, 11 a.m.–4 p.m., Rockledge Gardens, with local vendors, live music, food, desserts and drinks.

Shop Small Saturday is two days after Thanksgiving, and the Friendsgiving bin keeps taking donations every day through the end of the month, so a holiday-weekend shopping trip can include one more drop-off.

Thanksgiving week cuts the curb schedule to two days

Some things go out to the curb this month instead of to a collection bin, and the city's 2026 holiday pickup schedule changes twice in November.

Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11, and city offices are closed. The pickup changes for that week are in the city's schedule.

Thanksgiving week is the bigger change. There's no pickup on Thursday, November 26. Household garbage goes out Monday only, recycling and yard trash go out Tuesday only, and nothing else gets picked up that week. Regular service starts again the following week. If you're hosting, that week's only garbage pickup is Monday, November 23, so anything left from Thursday's dinner waits for the following week's regular collection.

Barton Boulevard opens and closes the season

The holiday stretch starts and ends on Barton Boulevard. Thrifty Specialty Produce & Meats at 920 Barton is a Stuff A Cruiser drop-off. Farther down the street, at 200 Barton, Gump's Golden Griddle was serving breakfast and lunch by September. In its September review, Florida Today called it a no-frills, welcoming spot that "knows breakfast and lunch – and does it well."

Between them, at 530 Barton, is the Rockledge Civic Hub. It's a city park and event space with open lawn, picnic areas, restrooms, a walking path and parking. It opened in June 2019, east of City Hall. That's where the city holds Light Up Rockledge on Saturday, December 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. The city's listing reads:

Admission is FREE, but we ask that you bring a nonperishable food item to support our holiday food drive.

The city lists food and gift vendors, music, crafts, reindeer games, hot cocoa and a visit from Santa. The annual city ornament goes on sale that night too. Vendor registration is free and spots are limited. The city is looking for handmade goods, licensed pre-packaged homemade foods, gift cards and gift baskets. Local makers can request a form at (321) 221-7540, ext. 160.

That makes three food drives in five weeks, along with a paper shred, two free markets and one short trash week. Keeping a bag of canned goods by the door covers almost every stop on the calendar.
